Donation Time

Adopting a rescue dog with emotional issues (fear, anxiety, etc) can be more than challenging.  Puppy mill survivors, dogs from hoarding situations, and those that have suffered abuse need a lot of patience and dedication.  Some dogs get adopted, and then are returned because of their behavioral issues, which only adds to their emotional baggage. Last year I learned of an organization that was founded by Cheryl Gfrerer after she fostered a dog that had been burned by a shock collar. Spencer Group offers behavior education and training with certified trainers to rescue groups on a scholarship basis, to improve a dog’s adoptability and chances of finding a forever home.  I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Cheryl, and visiting with her a couple of times. Her love and compassion for rescues is commendable. We can all make a difference in this world if we choose to.  Cheryl and Spencer Group saw a need and are doing just that. I am thrilled to announce that we are making a donation to Spencer Group! Please show them some love by liking and following them on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/Spencer-Group-192632244824186/  Also one of their biggest fundraisers is making and selling snuffle mats.  These mats are a great enrichment activity for dogs. If you don’t already have one, get one – your dog will thank you.

Woof-a-Pawlooza 2019

What a day!  We had so much fun at Woof-a-Pawlooza.  It was great to meet all the dogs (and of course, their people, too).  We are completely overwhelmed by the support for EllieBellie Project. We sold enough blankets, bandanas and collars today to make THREE donations!  Our first of the three will be to Good Karma Animal Rescue of MN – thank you GK for putting on this amazing event. We’ll announce the other two donations in the near future.  We’d also like to thank everyone who stopped by the EBP booth today. A special thanks to Atom’s mom and dad for the bag of snacks you brought us, again this year. They helped keep our energy up on a very busy day.  Atom is the handsome dog on the right in this picture. One last thing, we’d love to see more photos of your dogs enjoying their new EBP stuff – please share in the comments section.

2 Years in a Row

For the past two years EllieBellie Project has donated EBP dog blankets to National Mill Dog Rescue for their online auction. Imagine how fun it was for us to find out that one of the winning bidders this year, was also one of the winning bidders from last year. Thank you, Maria G. for bidding on EBP blankets (two years in a row), and supporting NMDR – one of our favorite rescue groups. This picture is of the adorable Kovu sporting an EBP bandana and lounging on the blanket Maria won last year. Maria let us know that she has three littles at home, and they all LOVE their EBP blankets.

Milestone

Last week’s donation marked a milestone for EllieBellie Project, as this put us just over $5000 in donations made to animal rescue organizations. That may not seem like a big number to some, but it’s a number that I hadn’t even dreamed of when I started this. All I really wished for at that time was enough to make one donation that first year to the rescue we adopted Ellie from. To think that we have made close to 20 donations since that time, overwhelms me with gratitude. To all of the people who have supported our mission by purchasing EBP dog/cat stuff, followed & shared our posts on Facebook & Instagram, donated fabric, came to the events we’ve been at, and told others about EBP – you are a part of this. We ALL did this together – thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Donation Time

It’s always fun to make a donation to a deserving animal rescue organization, but this donation is special in more ways than one. As you know, our family recently grew with the addition of Zuzu. What you may not be aware of is that Kari also recently adopted a sweet little dog she named Molly, and that both Zuzu and Molly were adopted from the same rescue. We were all extremely impressed with Underdog Rescue, and are thrilled to be donating to their group. Thank you, UDR for all that you do! – Underdog Rescue

Giveaways

We are super excited to let you know that we’ll be participating in the Bark For Life event, again this year. In addition to having a booth at the event, we will be doing the walk to raise money for the American Cancer Society as a team. To kick off our fundraising efforts we will be having 3 giveaways. Anyone who donates to the American Cancer Society via the attached link (EBP Team) will have their name entered into the drawings. We will pick a winner each week on Tuesday. The sooner you donate, the more chances you have to win. The first drawing will be for the dog bandana in the photo – what stylish dog doesn’t need a donut bandana?

Bella

After two trips to the emergency vet last Friday night and a trip to her regular vet clinic the next morning, our friend and fellow EBP crafter, Kari, lost her rescue pup, Bella. Kari adopted Bella a little over 3 years ago, knowing that Bella was a senior and that their time together wouldn’t be long. Kari opened her heart and her home to this puppy mill survivor, and gave Bella the best years of her life. It didn’t take long for this shy and scared dog to blossom, and take charge of the household. Our hearts go out to Kari.
Today, the first EBP donation of 2019 will be made to Homeward Bound Rescue of MN, in honor of Bella. Homeward Bound is the organization that Kari adopted Bella from. Since 1991 they have rescued over 12,000 dogs.
